Has any association tried combining age groups to help with the number of teams for tournaments
I know of MANY players that are 55-57 that still play 50 ball.
Maybe
50-57 58-64 65-70
I would think this would get more teams into tournaments since you are only trying to fill 2 age groups and not 3.
Any opinions on this?

I think it would be hard to say. There are so many variables such as age mix and talent mix. Assuming the same rules a 70 team would normally have 70 to 74's. They would have a hard time against a team that had all 65's. I have played on 70 teams that had to play 65's and it wasn't much fun I can remember only one tournament were we beat the 65 teams but they weren't very good teams in a small tournament.
IMO one answer is less tournaments.

I think that the same would apply. We are a 55+ league and 4 yrs ago we lowered the age to 50 in our "A" division. After a couple of years the 55+ players complained the couldn't complete with the 50 yr olds so we went back to 55+.
