I am 64 years old. Started my come back last year as I played on 2 Senior League teams and an SSUSA Tournament team along with 2 rec league teams. Needless to say, my body broke........... I got hit in the head with a ball in a tournament in Milwaukee, went out for a couple seconds, got a couple stitches (lots of cool blood though, all the chicks were diggin it!). Then. later towards the end of the season I collapsed an arch that severely strained some ankle ligaments or whatever (they have 6 syllable names, I forgot them). So, I was wobbly coming back from the concussion, but the ankle thing was serious. I couldn't walk for weeks. Finally got a cortisone shot in the ankle, hurt, no fat in the ankle. Had custom orthotics made, have stretched and worked on the calves every day all winter. I have been taking "YOGA" classes to stretch and strengthen all the joints, especially hips and ankles. I found out that flexible sole shoes are very bad for high arches (I had been using Tanel 360's), so.........I found 3N2 shoes, very solid stiff soles. No more open Rec leagues, those dudes are just too fast for me. I do not remember it being this hard back in the day! I have worked my ass off (literally, lost 15#'s!). I can't wait to get going! Any of youse have similar stories? Thanks for the forum, hope I don't get run off! Stan B ~ Milwaukee, WI

I have been extremely lucky. Didn't really start breaking down till I was 81 and had to cut down to 3 days a week for games but still managed my work out BP sessions on the other 4. Really felt it if I had to play 3 days in a row.

Ok, I am over complaining about my aches and pains from playing. Playing 3 days a week at 81 and BP on other days, that is absolutely awesome. No more whining from me about having to get up and play early Sunday morning after only playing a couple of games on Saturday. Much respect for you guys that are still doing this in your 70's and 80's. You guys are amazing.

Would love to go back to playing outfield but the old legs won't stand up. Lost my power but still good singles hitter.
